Scenario:

I have a Rev.B iMac that is happily running Jaguar (10.2.3) and an 8500
that has topped out at 9.2.2. I am about to radically upgrade the hard
drive on the iMac (80+GB drive as opposed to the current 4.0 Gb that is in
there now). I am planning on upgrading the 8500 w/ an ACARD/66 so that I
can put some large IDE drives in and install OS X. I also need to transfer
what ever is on the iMac 4.O back over to whatever monster drive I use for
its upgrade.

The Question(s):

I seem to remember a recent discussion about swapping drives across
machines once OS X had been installed, but I haven't been able to find
anything in the back postings. What I would like to do is upgrade the iMac,
put the ACARD in the 8500, attach the iMac's 4.0GB-w/Jaguar drive to the
ACARD in the 8500, and boot it up into X and transfer the contents across
my network to the iMacs new drive (and restoring the CCC image).

Has anyone tried dropping a pre-installed OS X drive into an unsupported
machine? Results?
