I have installed an Asante 10/100 ethernet card in my 9500. It works fine in
both 9 and X except for one annoying problem. After a cold start in X it
fails to connect to the router and obtain/renew its DHCP license. I get an
address starting with 169. If I use the System Prefs to reset them it takes
2 or 3 tries to get an address. If I use IPNetMonitorX and select release
and renew DHCP license it switches immediately. All settings show that the
network is connected thru the high-speed card and not the built-in port.

Restarts hold the DHCP address. I'd like to cure the problem or find an
alternative utility to renew the DHCP license before the try-before-you-buy
period for IPNetMonitorX runs out as the $40 fee is a little steep for this
one feature I need. Anybody know if this is a non-issue in Panther?

Specs:
OS 10.2.8, Ram 704mb, ppc9500, Sonnet G3/400/512 processor.
Asante # 09-00169-01 card
