It's tricky because the same seller in ebay has a similar item that he sells as being for PC and MAC, but he sells it for more. It doens't seem to be exactly the same item. Like the one I was referring to, it has 2 different chipsets. Anyone know if this would really matter in a beige G3? I'm lead to believe that if I buy the cheaper one, it won't work. Hmm. Greetings from Houston, TX.

Re: FIrewire USB 2.0 Combo Card with 2 chipsets?
My 8600/G3 has a no brand 3-port USB 2.0 card and a no brand 3-port FireWire card. Neither advertised Mac compatability, but both work fine in 10.2.8. If the combo card is a generic PC brand then it shouldn't be too pricey. I'd be inclined to buy it anyway and give it a go. You'd expect at least one of the protocols to work. Does anyone know when Sonnet is planning to release their Sonnet PCI X utlity for Panther? Their solution is a bit more polished than XPostFacto, and I'm waiting for it before I attempt Panther on my unsupported Macs. The website has just been saying "soon" for a while now. Has anyone had any correspondence with them? Slightly off-topic, here in Australia I can get a PowerColor Radeon 9600 Pro for $330. Did ATI disable ROM flashing after a certain chipset or would I be able to flash this to work in my G4? I know heaps of people have flashed the 7000s and 8500s, but you never hear of 9000s and later being flashed. Thanks James
