Hi I've a 9600 with sonnet g4/450 and ATA133 card running very nicely as a file/print server (10.2.8)
The network weirdness comes in moving files to/from 10.3 machines over 100M Ethernet Desktop machine (G4 agp) at 10 meg - good Laptop (g4/1.25) 54M airport - even better Laptop or desktop at 100meg - dismal (runs in little bursts) Somewhere 'between' 54 and 100 the throughput plummets... I've tried all the usual cabling/switch checks and everything checks fine. I'm using an Asante 590 10/100 PCI card which does have osx drivers. If someone out there is using a similar setup in a 9600 other than the Ethernet card, and is getting good 100M transfers I'll get another card - any recommendations on make/model? There was a reference on an Asante list about having too many bus mastering PCI cards causing problems?? I've never come across this one before on Macs (other cards present are a belkin FW/USB card and the original ATI Mach64 card the machine came with) Can the 9600 handle gigabit ethernet cards?? Just curious ;-) bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images http://northlight-images.co.uk -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
