I'm sending this to both lists as I searched the archives and only the Unsuported OSX list had any mention of this particular error, but the machine in question "should" be supported...

It's a Rev. B iMac with 512 Mb of RAM, a 129 Gb hard drive, running the last version of Jaguar (10.2.8) with all updates. I had just installed the D-Link driver for a USB wireless card and went to restart. Upon restart, the machine went the the routine of finding a System folder, then the Gray Apple Splash screen, then it froze with a gray-on-gray "Do Not" emblem...

Repeated attempts to restart from Open Firmware failed, attempts to boot from the CD drive (and the Jag Install disk) have failed.

THe CD drive never powers up that I can tell and it sounds as if the hard drive is not powering up fully either...

What does the screen mean? Is my power supply going south? My hard drive?

Sounds like D-link software has caused your problems.

Now if my memory serves me correct it's a 266mhz iMac CRT version? If so read on...

I assume you have tried a hard restart, or even tried the reset switch that need to be pressed with paper clip (Unless you have one of the third party buttons installed there) that hides in side compartment. This may force machine back into an OS9 boot routine again assuming you still have OS9 installed and it should then continue through that OS startup. Then try restarting to X (via Xpostfacto?!) after machine is up.

Hope this, along with others suggestions.
