The Sonnet processor is definitely a boost, but the bus speed of only 67 MHz is a drag. Overall my G3 is faster but slower in some aspects like opening a Hard disk. Having said that I haven't timed before and after and it would be slow I'm sure next to a G5.
The B&W G3s have a 100 mhz system bus. I have one with a G4 500 CPU and 512 megs RAM. It runs 10.3.4 jsut fine.
Frankly, these are MUCH better machines to run OS X than the 9500/9600/S900 series. I'm about ready to dump my S900.
