I give up. My Mac can't find my wife's Windoze box. I can ping it but no can see it in the network window. Any ides would be welcome. 10.3.8 with the latest security update on a 9600/G4/700.

Find out what the workgroup name is on her windows system.

Go to Utilities and run Directory access.

make sure SMB is checked, and click on the lock and authenticate.

Now Select the SMB section and click on Configure.

Make sure the Workgroup name is the same as hers. Her workgroup should show in the dropdown box.

Also, if her computer's name is > 12 characters long, it won't show up, rename her computer to be 12 characters or shorter and so long as the workgroup name is correct it should show up. (If you renamed it longer, you should have gotten a warning on the Windows system that some older systems won't be able to access it.)

Ignore the WINS server numbers box (unless you're running a WINS server, of course)
