Google the part number and manufacturer of the drive.

Also, xlr8 your mac web site may have a hack that will enable you to "support" 
it under OS X.  My Yamaha CRW4260, just need a quick hack of the 
YamahaCDR.plugin to make it "supported".  Unfortunately, I have found that I 
can burn CD's right in the finder, in iTunes, or Disk Copy, but that I can't 
really use the drive as a reader.  Good for me that I left it as an external 
device, and didn't install it internally...that would have been frustrating.  I 
think the OS, is trying to read the CD at the rate of the supported drive that 
I swapped in the plugin.
