Yeah I'm running 10.3. It seems like the problems you had were not
related to grackleprobe then, eh? Ok, I'll give it a try, especially
since if it's so easy to un-install.

Are you running version 10.3, 10.2, or 10.1 (or 10.0) of OS X? I've
always been running 10.3 on here via XPF. Looking at my logs, after I
removed checkmate I got hardly any kernel panics, and those few I did
get were Fire-related (but I keep on using the program anyway, it's
worth it)
According to what I read about that, you see the biggest improvement
in 10.1 (&10.1), some in 10.2, and little or none in 10.3, so that
could be why. If you're running 10.2 or earlier I'd give it a shot,
you can always remove it if you don't see any difference.

Jesse thanks very much. I think that answers my questions extremely
well. Greetings from Houston.

I have used it, I didn't notice any improvement from it though. As
a matter of fact, I actually got several kernel panics, but I never
actually tracked those down to GrackleProbe. The software I tracked
most of them down to was CheckMate (a checksumming system software
program) but I did remove grackleprobe, didn't seem to affect
anything. Shortly thereafter though I ran out of HD space, b/c my
swap files were located on the startup drive (affected by the 8GB
limit) and try as I would, I couldn't get them to relocate to the
second partition. That was all awhile ago, I've used CCC and set up
the first 4GB or so as a helper, not a problem anymore.

Hello list. I have a beige G3 Desktop upgraded with a 1Ghz G4. I
was wondering if anyone has installed "Grackle Probe" and
1. not hurt their system by doing so
and 2. noticed any positive effect from it?
