You misunderstand me, on several counts.

[1] This isn't Panther's Quartz Extreme, which only accelerates window
compositing & passes huge textures to and from the graphics card over
the bus - which doesn't work well on PCI. QE doesn't support PCI for a
good reason.

[2] I know about PCI Extreme, and the plist hack. This one comes up regularly.

[3] Quartz 2D Extreme offers exciting new possibilities but requires
certain specific GPU chips which aren't available in PCI format. Ergo,
it won't work over PCI, unless someone produces a PCI card with either
a Radeon 9600 or a GeForce FX  - or better. This seems unlikely.
