No, it shouldn't be like that. The mouse cursor thing sounds like a display driver problem, which may be solved by a different version of whatever driver drives your graphics card or chipset.

You might have some hardware issues. You'll need to describe your hardware before anyone can advise.

As a first stab - upgrading in place from 10.1.5 to 10.2 is risky. There's a lot of changes between those versions. A better bet would be an archive-and-install from one version to the next. Trouble is, I can't remember whether a Jag upgrade disk allows that option.
