Yeah, I know it's an emulator. I used to use a
platform where everything else non native was
emulated .So what!
If there is enough power to handle the overhead useful work can be done.
I find these attitudes very strange for a list
that supports something Apple would like to see
go away. Running OS X, native or not, on
unsupported hardware.. I have 3 PCI Macs and
will soon be asking for help getting OS X
debugged. Can I expect the same warm regards
when I post with those problems.
You will get lots of help here with getting your PCI Macs running OS X.
The reason for the comments about OS X on Xbox
are that X was originally intended to run on
PowerSurge PCI Macs but Apple dropped official
support when it was found that these boxes
wouldn't have enough power to run the heavy GUI
without upgrades which Apple does not support.
The nuts and bolts of the OS can still run on
these machines with upgrades and that is why we
run it: because upgraded PCI Macs are very much
up to the task.
The Xbox HW was never supported by OS X and never
will, so it needs to be run in emulation which is
tediously slow and unusable for everyday work,
even simple work. This makes it somewhat
off-topic for the list. Those of us here are
using our Unsupported boxes for everyday work and
also take pride in using older but still useful
hardware. Mental gymnastics are fun but we tend
to spend list time helping others get functional
older Macs working and producing.
While the Xbox 360 HW is interesting, I'll bet
that it will be no more HW compatible with OS X
than the Gen1 Xbox, so with X in emulation I
wonder whether it'll be even as fast as a PM7600
G3/400. Just going out on a limb hereĀ
Perhaps I should introduce myself to those of
you who do not know me from the PCI, Powerbooks
and swap lists. I'm really harmless. No need to
kill the messenger.
No prob, take it easy.
