Howdy,

I'm finding I have to upgrade very soon. Since I cannot afford a DP G5 (what I really want) , I may wait until the MacTels come out with that kind of tower power, but for now it will either be a G5 iMac or the wisest upgrade to my aging 350 mHz G4 AGP Sawtooth.

If I upgrade the Sawtooth, I want the most reliable, rock-solid upgrade I can get, with no need of extra software support (read "plug in new board and go") within the wise-decision bang-for-the- buck range. It will have to do me until the MacTels with real juice come available.

I'll be using it to create music in GarageBand and Logic Platinum, lots of paint, draw, and 3D software.

I'm ready to do it now, but there is so much ground to cover, I could still use some more advice.

Well, this is more of a G-List question, since the Sawtooth is still very much a supported system, but OWC has A Powerlogix 1GHz upgrade that is quite nice and about $180. For what you're doing I'd stuff it with memory, too.

You can go from there on up in speed and price. The G5 iMac is probably the better deal performance-wise.
