Dear List: I recently had to reinstall Jaguar on my Power Mac 7600, which has a Sonnet G3 500, 256MB RAM, 1 GB SCSI drive for OS 9.1, a Maxtor 160GB drive (8GB of which is reserved for OS X), an ATI Radeon 7000, a Macally USB/Firewire card, and an ACARD6280M ATA controller card for the 160GB drive. Unfortunately, I have encountered an issue and have been unable to reinstall. I have tried several times without success.
Now on top of this, I have been unable to boot from my OS 9.1. I did a fresh install on the SCSI drive and still couldn't boot from it. It hung at the smiling Mac icon. So, thinking it might be the SCSI drive, I removed it and reformatted 160GB to include a partition for OS 9.1. I tried installing OS 9.1 on the new partition. The installation went smoothly, but when it came time to reboot off the drive things did not go well. After the computer booted, it hung at the smiling Mac icon. I checked the PRAM battery to see if that might be the cause, but the battery turned out to be fine. I tried resetting the CUDA, again to no avail. Is this machine toast? Any ideas about what's going on?
