I /think/ so. In general I think it strictly speaking replaces the old
BSD-style init of previous versions, in part because it allows for far
more parallelisation, which makes for a much faster boot process than
running a lot of scripts.

But I'm not a low-level Unix expert, I'm afraid. Trying to learn
Debian at the moment & it's making me feel very old and slow indeed.

So far, I can only say that I like it. Spotlight is very useful, tho'
I mainly use it just as a program launcher, and Dashboard is
surprisingly useful too.
