I /think/ so. In general I think it strictly speaking replaces the old BSD-style init of previous versions, in part because it allows for far more parallelisation, which makes for a much faster boot process than running a lot of scripts. But I'm not a low-level Unix expert, I'm afraid. Trying to learn Debian at the moment & it's making me feel very old and slow indeed. > Guess I won't be upgrading beyond Panther any time soon. Replacing init > is just plain nuts, and completely unnecessary. So far, I can only say that I like it. Spotlight is very useful, tho' I mainly use it just as a program launcher, and Dashboard is surprisingly useful too. -- Liam Proven · http://livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=lproven AOL/AIM/iChat: [EMAIL PROTECTED] · MSN/Messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] · Skype: liamproven · ICQ: 73187508 Gmail/Google Talk/Orkut: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[email protected]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com
