My partner in crime uses Compass on some of his projects. I wouldn't
call it object oriented... more simply CSS with variables and
inheritance. It saves a lot of time and typing, but you have to install
Ruby and the Compass gem and then re-compile your CSS every time you
make a change. This can be done automatically but it seems like overkill
for a small site. I have a feeling that people who don't like Smarty are
not going to like Compass either, for similar reasons.

Blueprint is a set of stylesheets that override the various default
browser styles with identical, "sane" defaults. If you find yourself
writing the same CSS over and over again each time you start a project,
you should try Blueprint. It's meant to be a better jumping-off point.
If you have worked with someone that started with

* {
        padding: 0;
        margin: 0;
}

and left you to pick up the pieces, Blueprint is a slightly more elegant
way of accomplishing... whatever they were thinking.
