To get it to work (in the meantime):

in your header:

<script 
src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.3/jquery.min.js"></script>

then, the entirety of your ajax call is:

$.get('*php_file*'
     , function(data) 
     {
       $(my_dvd).html(data);
});
