Glad to hear that you got it working. The google link is just the location of the jQuery minified code. You can host it on your site, or link to that (or one for any of the other versions, or a neutered, 'active' version). Since you wanted easy, linking would have been the easiest, plus then anyone visiting your site who had recently been on another site using the same jQuery link would not need to refetch the jQuery library.
jQuery is REALLY easy to learn (the basics). When I was starting to learn it I watched these: http://blog.themeforest.net/screencasts/jquery-for-absolute-beginners-video-series/ a few times.
