I can tell you that at Rain, we have looked on numerous occasions for the 
silver bullet of shopping carts.  In the end, it usually ends up being a custom 
job.  For flexibility and skinability, you may as well just make a custom cart 
anyway.

When dealing with carts, keep PCI compliance in mind.  It is a big deal these 
days.
