1. Any suggestions on where and how to save sessions in gnome-terminal? The
lack of that function is making reboots a nightmare - I have to go through
every single one of
possibly tens of terminals, recording where they are and what they are doing,
and then stepwise restore them on a reboot. I do about 50% of my work in a
terminal - and 40% in
emacs or a custom install of eclipse. The last 10% is either www on any one
of several browsers or pidgin. I've got the code (thanks for making it be
able to build outside of
a huge tree) but I'm still not entirely sure what happened with session saving.
My browsers (for the most part) still have it but it seems to be gone from any
other app I use.

2. How can I make desktop search not be present? It saps CPU power, drive
space and productivity. I used to just be able to uninstall it, but y'all
seem to have taken that
option away.

3. Any suggestions on how I can make a menu system to access the
already-existing database I have? I've finally made that bloody panel go away
but I'm still not sure how to
access my less-frequently-used context-organized apps.

4. Any way to make notifications only appear on a small block on the status
bar, just so I can ignore them when I'm busy doing something time-critical?

Really, I'll figure out 2 and 3 eventually. I don't know why everyone is so
set on notifications - I'd prefer them logged so I can look at them later, and
only a non-intrusive
signal that there are any to pay attention to. But #1 is critical.

Thanks!
