I thought flash player was not the greatest for showing video.  Maybe is 
is better now.
Generally speaking, VideoLAN (http://www.videolan.org/) is probably the 
best cross-platform opensource media player out there.  I have always 
preferred Quicktime player and format over other usual suspects.
