I use "u" before my custom property names to distinguish them from built-in properties for several reasons. First, I won't be bollixed when new properties are added to the built-in properties that happen to collide with my well-thought out property name;

This is the number one reason why I add prefixes to property and variable names. If you ever have to convert a Hypercard stack which contains many variables whose names are now reserved words under Rev, you'll appreciate the grief it can cause. Even the risk of high-speed candy from Dar won't deter me. :-)
