I thought given as my name was mentioned it was time to say hello to
everyone!

Heather is right we are currently developing a range of materials for the
k12 market, although I expect that a bit later on materials for
univerisities and industry will also be made available. The materials are
designed to be usable in other countries and for example will fit in with
the A-level and GCSE exams system here in the UK. At present the aim is to
provide a range of printed handouts for school teachers, these will include
extensive notes on how to program various aspects of Revolution
(Transcript), problems to give to students and some sample stacks. The aim
is that the teacher doesn't have to prepare notes and instead can simply
hand out the relevant materials. However having worked in higher education I
am trying to make sure the teacher has total flexibility in which portions
to use, hence they can pick'n'mix with their own materials or those supplied
by others. As a result we welcome any comments people have on materials from
other vendors, whether they are electronic environments or printed notes. We
want to get it right and coming from a background in systems usability I
like to make it my mission in life to listen to end users at all stages of
the process. Hence *if* we were to start building a so called fully
electronic teaching environment (and there have been a few requests to do
so) we would carry out a substantial amount of research into what people
need, communication channels required (The Laurillard model springs to mind)
and any other relevant aspects before embarking on such a project. If
anyone wishes to discuss educational developments with me please email our
education specific address which is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We have a Yahoo group (but nothing on clubs as yet) which was set up fairly
recently in response to requests from end users. The aim is NOT to replace
the current mailing lists but rather to allow for another way for people to
communicate. For anyone who is interested and not familiar with Yahoo in
addition to being able to post messages, you can upload/download stacks,
view a calendar of up and coming events and also (if its back online) take
part in live discussions. You can join in various ways:

by sending a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

or visit the group homepage on:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/revolution_developers

Finally my thanks to those who have contaced me so far with regard to
education and also to everyone else on this list for their positive (and
constructive) remarks in relation to Revolution.

Kind regards,
