According to the website, there's another option that still hasn't been
mentioned in this thread. If you can hold out for a year after your original
Standard purchase, and never need support, after that year you get the same
upgrade deal as Professional members--fixed amount, 299 I think, per year.
In that case, you save 650 over Professional for the initial purchase, and
after that the costs are the same although the total value included is a bit
different. On the other hand, let's say you needed one update during that
year, you still save 300 even if there is no special upgrade discount
offered at the time.

I think the yearly upgrade offer is important for Standard users because it
can make the annual cost of the tool predictable. I think I read the site
correctly; isn't that the way it works? You just have to hang tough that
first year, and decide whether you really need an update or can wait a few
more months.
