MC's help stack file is smaller than the dictionary, but only by about a
factor of 2, so it wouldn't account for such extensive slowdowns as you're
seeing. And the dictionary doesn't do anything terribly timeconsuming when
it opens...just a bit of shuffling of objects, really it doesn't do much
more on openStack than on openCard. Very puzzling.
You're not by any chance using the dictionary from the Windows or Unix
distribution? That would cause slowdowns on opening.
