Hi Tuviah

Do I need special Merant software as such, doesn't the FileMaker Pro
5.5 software install sufficient ODBC support anyway? I have an ODBC
control panel which uses the Merant ODBC 3.51 extension. This seems
to have been installed as part of the FileMaker installation. Do I
need anything else in addition to this?

In my limited experiments so far I've managed to get the Database
Tools stack to connect to an Access database, but this was running
both Rev 1.1 and Access o a PC of course. When I tried to get Win
Rev 1.1 to connect to a FileMaker database, it seemed to connect OK
but I haven't worked out how to successfully send a SQL command to
the FM db.

On the Mac I've had even less success. I keep getting error messages
when trying to connect to a sample FM db, I don't get as far as on
the PC where the connection at least seems to work (even though I
can't get any further at present).

What's even less clear is how I set things up on a PC to run the FM
db such that I can access it from a Mac client over an Ethernet
network (the PC is using PC MacLAN for connectivity). How do I
configure the ODBC control panels on the PC (acting as a server in
this case) and the Mac (acting as a client).

Cheers

Peter
