Hi David :
Quick post - the threads were nothing more than me telling
everyone "Buy SynthEyes" (if you're serious) or use Icarus
if you're not . Here's a link to my Icarus tutorial :
http://studiodynamics.net/cam_match/camera_matching.html
Forum Thread :
http://www.3ddart.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=6730#6730
After that we had Henri Pulla www.talvi.com point us to
his work with SE and (mostly) LW .
http://www.talvi.com/index.php?page=projects&project=135
or
http://www.talvi.com/index.php?page=projects&project=120
and
http://www.talvi.com/index.php?page=projects&project=110
Then Arjo posted a very quick mpeg test (link's now broken)
as well as mentioning that his experience with SE is very
good so far .
That's really about it .

Hi Gary.
Yes, I still lurk :)
(Shameless plug for the image contest... WILL YOU ALL PLEASE ENTER THE
CONTEST???? I'd love to give my money to someone else sometime :) )
I did download the demo and was impressed, enough that I did buy it. With
software costing from the $400.00 US I paid to $10,000 or more??? Syntheyes
-is- quite the bang for the buck, especially in that there is no resolution
limit.
Is this list archived anymore? I'd love to look at the thread. Was there a
link to a tutorial or anything?
Arjo??? Any advice?
While I was waiting for my license I wanted a bit more info specifically
with RealSoft. I thought I had seen the name "Syntheyes" in some subjects,
but I sure didn't associate it with camera tracking. Anyway, recent projects
I've had have renewed my interest is such software and was so pleased that
Syntheyes supports RealSoft.
I found a javascript on the Syntheyes web site for RealSoft, but it just
gave me a bunch of errors; something about "can't find" and I was not in the
mood to try to figure it out :)
Thanks Gary.
David

Has anyone on this list experience using Syntheyes and the
javascript generated to import into RealSoft 3D?
I perceive great utility in matchmoving software for work I do in forensic
accident
reconstruction/visualization and would like some feedback.

Hi David :
Long time ... no see ! Yes , there was a thread here this winter
about Syntheyes and RS . Also , Arjo Rozendaal purchased SE this
spring and posted a quick example here .
I think I posted some stuff in the forum too . Anyway , a brief
recap might be ... BUY IT !!! Yes , it has a ton of potential and
it's handshaking with RS is awesome . It is the best supported
S/W around , bar none . It may not have every camera-matching
feature that the expensive packages have , but it has the most
useable ones and is thereby the "Most Bang for Buck" of all of
them , considering it's much lower price tag .
For your purposes it would be perfect indeed . D/L the demo
and the RS output file and try it for yourself . I did and was
totally impressed .
Also , I was having trouble with a scene I had using Icarus ,
so Arjo ran it through SynthEyes and sent it back and it was
absolutely freakin' perfectly matched !
It (or V6) will be my next S/W purchase .
cheers
