Hi Brian, Interesting, I wasn't aware of Play! Looks like whoever came up with that spent some time with Ruby or PHP Frameworks.
I think integrating Magnolia will be a challenge, as Play! seems to be a competitor to the J2EE Model rather than a Framework that works alongside it. I can't say whether Play! is good or not (although I have a prejudicial opinion! ;-) ) but I dare say integrating magnolia might be a bit of a challenge. Magnolia is very definitely a J2EE Webapp, and converting it to Play! might be difficult. I can't seem to find any tools or wrapper-layers for integrating J2EE servlets and filters, which is what it would come down to. Perhaps another way to combine Magnolia and Play! would be via a shared JCR cluster - that way magnolia could be used to edit content, and a Play! app could access the same data. It seems to me the most interesting aspect of Play! would be the stateless threadless operation and theoretical scalability gains that could be realized using that. It's not clear to me how integrating magnolia would impact those features. Let us know how it goes, I'd be interested in the outcome.
