Hi,

generated UML diagrams usually are completely useless, other than serving as a starting point for a manually crafted diagram.

IMHO, a good UML diagram needs to be hand-crafted carefully in order to be helpful. If done well, it can provide good and quick understanding of a complex object model. Just my 2 Cents :-)

I've never felt the need myself, but I guess there's lots of IDE plugins and other tools that can generate UML class diagrams.
