I'm currently running magnolia 4.4.8 with the 1.6.5 data module and have run into an interesting issue. Inside data, I have a recipeCategory item type with a recipeCategoryItem child item type. The problem has todo with validation of the recipeCategoryItem data type. Applying simple validation like required=true causes the dialog not to validate when you are creating a [b]new[/b] recipeCategoryItem item. If I edit an existing, it does validate and work as expected. Your demo area running 4.5.x with the latest data module seems to work fine. I'm wondering if someone is familiar with this issue and if there is a patch for this particular fix for magnolia 4.4.x. Upgrading to magnolia 4.5.x is not an option at the moment.
