DefaultUserRegistrar could indeed handle the situation better. I suggest that you create a bug report in Jira - http://jira.magnolia-cms.com/browse/MGNLPUR
OTOH you could as well subclass the said registrar or the RegistrationProcessor and handle the exception in whichever way you see appropriate. It might be also nice if you use the real name and avoid the use of expressive language in the forum.
