you do not "become" an official distribution. The "official"
distribution is what is released by the magnolia organization on
behalf of the project's committers.
We are basically wrapping up "official distributions" in an Mac OS
X package installer and with a startup item for Mac OS X users. We
are also, planning on developing a System Preference pane to allow
setting the magnolia path, port, start stop magnolia via a GUI,
etc. Once we have it to a point of public consumption we will post
to the list for feedback/suggestions/etc.
Join the dev-list, discuss / provide patches etc.
E.g. the pref pane can easily be distributed separately or started as
a subproject - we encourage subprojects and provide infrastructure -
svn, jira, mailing lists etc
We definitely do not want Magnolia releases to be found anywhere
except on the magnolia.info page resp. the magnolia sourceforge
project. I am really at the moment to busy to go into details /
discussions but lets just accept that the way to go is to join the
developers and work with the core team to make Magnolia the best CMS
in the world - and if this includes a Mac installer, fantastic. We
love Macs.
Start the Mac subproject - I mean where is the widget to show recent
changes? Where is the Netinfo user management integration? The smart
folder that uploads dropped files to Magnolia? The applescript
support? There are lots of great things you could provide.
You are really welcome.

Boris
