Yes, that's the behavior.

How do you do a "text paste as opposed to a generic paste"? I'm pasting
from UltraEdit and Notepad. Is that not what you mean?

So... you are saying after you paste into an fckEdit box, click on the
Source button and you see the font tag?

Try to do a text paste as opposed to a generic paste.  I suspect the
font tag is coming from the copy source.  Generic pasting from MS Word
is horrible in this manner with all sorts of truly ugly span tags --
most of which are empty and a waste of bandwidth.
