Hi Tom
Sorry that I miss-interpreted your E-Mail. Maybe it was because not
long ago I ran into the issue I described.
As David mentioned:
- In the author instance check your subscriber in /config/server/
activation/subscribers. You need to have a "working" one. "Working"
means correct URL/port, active=true and the class to handle activation.
- Make sure that the user you logged in with on the author instance is
also on the public instance.
- Activate a page
If you are activating through the workflow, you can not be logged in
as superuser (since superuser is not part of the editor). In that case
log out and log in as e.g. "Melinda", a sample-user which is in the
editor group.
Once the page is in the inbox, proceed. Wait a while, because if
activation fails, you get the error message in the "comments".
- You can also go to "Tools", "JCR Browser" and activate from there.
That activation will not go through workflow.
- Well, check log files :-)
If activation fails, double check the URL you are using in the
subscriber.
Also keep in mind that if you have multiple subscribers and just one
of them is active, but incorrect URL, you will get the error as well,
even though the pages have been removed from the instances reached by
the correct subscribers.
Hope that helps!
Giancarlo

Thanks for the response Giancarlo. I apologize but I didn't write the
first sentence very clearly and see that I implied something different
than what I meant.
I meant to say I have tried this on an author and public instance that
are both version 3.5.3 and an author and public instance that are both
version 3.5.8.
Thanks,
Tom

Subject: Re: [magnolia-user] deactivating and deleting activated
pages
Hi Tom
Well, you are not the only one :-)
In 3.5.4 the url for the activation has changed. When
activating from a 3.5.4 author instance to a 3.5.3 public
instance I got a 404 on /.magnolia/activation.
After updating the public instance to 3.5.4 activation worked fine.
I assume there is a better work around then updating the
public instance to 3.5.4 or higher. But the update was rather
easy, I emptied the /WEB-INF/lib on my 3.5.3 instance and
copied all the jars from a
3.5.4 /WEB-INF/lib folder.
Cheers

I am having a problem with 3.5.3 and 3.5.8 and want to see
if anyone
else is having this problem and I need to file a bug report
or if it
might be something wrong with my configuration.
The problem is when a user deactivates an activated page it
does not
delete it from the public instance. Same thing happens when a user
deletes or renames an activated page. Could I have something wrong
with my config that would make this not work properly?
I'm finding it hard to believe that other people haven't
run into the
same problem if it were a bug in Magnolia.
Thanks,
Tom
