a) What kind of layout problems are you facing?
The highlighting of context menus of trees in IE7.
The login page in IE 6.
b) It's an _author_ instance, so a rather closed, controlled
environment. Most of our customers use IE too, but everybody was more
than willing to switch to Firefox when I explained them that it would be
a quicker & safer ride.
Our customers are rather conservative.

The layout problems I talked about are in the Admin Interface. And
customers tend to use IE. 40% IE 6 40 % IE 7 in our case.

If you've got problems in the resulting website it's Your Fault (TM).
For the author instance (and for all other purposes too as a matter
of fact): IE7 should work, but do yourself your a favor and use
Firefox. It's much quicker, safer and cooler too 8-)

PS got some problems using IE7 right now
Are you talking about the admin interface or the resulting web site?
The only problems with IE7 I'm aware of are the usual layout bugs
caused by IE6 hacks.
