If I am running magnoliaPublic as ROOT should I put just:
www.mywebsite.com (in place of localhost:8080) ?

It is OK now.
"* hard nofile 20000" line in limits.conf had effect.
There was also a problem I solved in the meantime. JAVA_OPTS should be set
to increase heap size to Xmx512m otherwise the installation fails.
This story could be named "Installing Magnolia in Fedora Core 6 on a VPS
server".
Now I have two Magnolia working instances.
I will try to set correctly the subscribers so in order to connect author to
public. Knows anybody a tutorial for that?
I will come back anyway with a new thread here if I will have problems.

headache a coupe of times, but this is how you fix it:
go to /etc/security/limits.conf go towards the end of it and you
should see commented settings in this rofmat
<username> <limit type> <item> <value>
add one of your own... for example
* hard nofile 20000 (this is how I use it) means <all users> <hard
type> <number of files> <number od files open>
that should solve your problem...
