On the site: the Gentoo 2006 image now uses gcc4.1.1 and glibc 2.4
The kernel is the 2.6.17.13 one (both the gcc4.1.1 and gcc3.4.6
versions)

But it looks like you will also need a 64-bit host with whatever
combination I've got here... gcc4.1.1, glibc2.4, 2.6.17.11-skas3
As it works ok on x86 and on some other (older) amd64 hosts.

Slackware x86 image from the site.

Ok, I had it switched off anyway (see .configs for kernels on the site).
But whilst trying all the options this came up.
