Hi

Just the thought having a 300G UML file system seems to a bit scary for us

humfs solves the permission problem, but you might not like it
anyway. For one thing, I'm not happy with its bugginess, and haven't
sent it to Linus yet (I was about to, then ran a workload which
exposed a bunch of problems). For another, the host filesystem has to
be prepared, by separating the file permissions from the files, and
changing the ownerships and permissions of the files.

Is there a reason the data has to live on the host? If it's accessed
most often by the UML, how about having it live inside the UML and
export it to the host with NFS is necessary?
