Looking at the docmentation at: 
http://docs.couchdb.org/en/2.0.0/replication/protocol.html#upload-batch-of-changed-documents

It says:

"These Documents MUST contain the _revisions field that holds a list of the 
***full*** Revision history to let Target create Leaf Revisions that correctly 
preserve ancestry”.

i.e. the full revision history must be provided. I’m unsure why and whether you 
can get away with only providing the current rev and it’s parent in the 
history…?
