Hi, Just because: 1) not all users build their apps from scratch, they might have some legacy code built over Cassandra DB; 2) native persistence featured much later than Cassandra module, and there is no point to remove it now; 3) it's always better to offer more choices to user.
Anyway, Ignite's native persistence is more powerful as Ignite has full control over it. With external storage Ignite performs more like cache, but when with native persistence - like DB. For example, if you run SQL query on Ignite grid with third party persistence, it's not possible to request data that is not loaded (cached) into memory.
