Show processed XML data

Hi all,
is there any way how to show what XML data are processed? Let say output 
the data into logfile or generate a XML page with the data as they are 
processed.

I tried to increase the log level in 
tomcat/webapps/lenya/WEB-INF/log4j.xconf but there is no XML in this output.
