ManifoldCF Solr connector is supposed to be able to use basic auth. But you have to have the radio button select that in the UI and the credentials filled in. If all of that is in place and basic auth is still not working, then please create a ticket and somebody will need to look at why it's no longer working as designed. Perhaps you can try using a sniffer tool like Wireshark? If you can connect with curl, capture that connection first, then try with ManifoldCF. Compare/contrast to see what the differences are.
