OK, these seem to work - Athought I have not tested on our development server
yet. :)
They include the changes to atexit that I mentioned earlier,
I ended up compiling with debian libmysqlclient6 - which is potato not woody..

* this currently doesn't include the examples etc. - I think the release
script needs modifying a bit...
If anyone uses the packages (RPM/DEB), can they send an email back to the
mailing list - just to say success/ exploded in chaos etc. - as Im sure it
would help prepare better ones for a final release :) whenever :)
