Tony, there are over 100 Open Source CMSs, most of them blogs or
portals.

OSCOM has started a project for describing features and capabilities
of these different systems in a comparable format, but this is still
some way off from completion.

Anyway, the problems James Gifford mentioned in his emails didn't
seem showstoppers to me -- it just requires some understanding of
the Midgard world to get them solved.

I would suggest that you could make a list of open questions/issues
and ask me about them either here on the mailing list or on Midgard
IRC. I hope that we could get them solved that way and your Midgard
site well under way...
