Tony,

I don't have all the answers... yet. They seem to have it quite sorted in Europe because they meet often; we have more homework to do. Measure whether there's interest, where most people are, and work from there.

Quite a few people have joined the thread, so that's a good start. Here in Wellington we have a nice group of developers from CWA (3~4) and Catalyst (2~3?) at the very least. I can arrange (50% probability) for a sponsor to provide a venue, and I can host a few people at home, were we have a fully functional 802.11b network.

Of course, if we do it elsewhere -- I wouldn't mind visiting Sydney/Melbourne at all -- we'll need a sponsored local venue at least. So if you are in Sydney, Melbourne or Auckland, and think you could arrange a sponsor/venue, let us know!

When... that's a good question. We need a bit more info... Spring sounds good: September/October? November?

Regarding international men of mistery like Henri (and/or others), we need to have a hint of how many we'll be and what sponsors we have, costs, etc. Then we'll know what we can finance -- not that we can't be creative, we'll be. But what we can't be is stupid.

Also, I am both lousy and lazy when it comes to arranging parties and events. But not all is lost. I have an old friend from Argentina offering to help organizing the event she routinely organizes events for Toyota over there. I think she is jealous of my being impressed with Dorothy of OSCOM.

Note to those in Europe: we need hints and coaching from you in this brave new project. We know how to code, but not how to arrange parties. Help!

cheers,

martin

I can probably organize a location and maybe some sponsoring in NZ (Wellington or AKL). Or fly to Sydney/Melbourne. Are there enough of us interested in joining? Speak up, please!

Martin,

Do you have time in mind?

And who's going to pay for Henri to come ;-)

Tony
