I would certainly be happy to participate.
Actually, to make the practical considerations easier, I could even
try to be a revenue generator for the event by either hosting a (for fee) tutorial or doing some Midgard work :-)
That's exactly what I was thinking of when mentioning creativity. However, we still need to take care of the basics before we start finding a job for you over here ;)
Certainly! (Uh-oh, I sense I am getting myself in trouble).I think she is jealous of my being impressed with Dorothy of OSCOM.
Well, it is easy to be impressed by Doro, isn't it ;-)
BTW, it would be good to decide early on whether you want to make this first event in the area a Midgard-only or OSCOM event.
I have been wondering about that, but I am not sure how to gather interest in the OSCOM event. The participants list is much smaller than the midgard lists, so I don't see that gathering much steam. On the other hand, OSCOMs have a logically larger user-base, so in theory... It seems to boil down to making a pilgrimage around all the CMS-related mailing lists to announce an Oceania OSCOM Sprint, I guess. But I have been reading about sprints and they have a coding focus, and I don't think the 1st gathering would be for coding, but rather for tutorials.
Midgard-only seems easier at this stage. How can I turn it into an OSCOM-wide event successfully, Master Henri?
Maybe a dev meeting now and an OSCOM mini-conference later if the experiences with the first event are good?
Another option: make sure we have enough people for a Midgard dev meeting, and then if time allows inviting OSCOM-wide attendance. If they are interested, we make it slightly longer and cover both bases. Otherwise, OSCOM-focus is 1/2 day or 1 day.
It's still a bit early for a Sprint, I think.
cheers,
martin
