Jacques, It is generally better to resolve the existing bugs before the release is cut. Specifically those regarding security. Having a release with security issues is an easy target for competing products (marketing wise).
And, throwing the special purpose apps out before means are available to put them back in is like throwing your shoes out before you have new ones.
