Hello mailinglist,

I have maybe some interesting links :

http://www.soapatterns.org/ --> a lot of patterns- maybe interesting for you- the most is old stuff, but there are some interesting new things... http://labs.jboss.com/file-access/default/members/jbossesb/freezone/resources/project/JBossESBArchitecture.pdf --> JBOSS ESB architecture paper- very nice to read, but sometimes not state of the art http://labs.jboss.com/file-access/default/members/jbossesb/freezone/docs/4.0Beta1/manuals/html/ProgrammersGuide_files/image021.png --> architecture picture http://labs.jboss.com/jbossesb/docs/4.2.1GA/manuals/html/ProgrammersGuide.html --> good reference for programmers, good section about faults, configuration guide

Some interesting points about jboss esb:

- jboss has jax-r support for quering any repository (http://labs.jboss.com/wiki/Jbossesb/JAXR) with apache scout (http://ws.apache.org/scout/) - xslt transformator milyn of codehaus looks interesting- they promise 4x performance boost over xalan (http://jbossesb.blogspot.com/2007/03/as-you-may-already-know-jboss-esb-uses.html), but in the blog it seems to be slow... - feature of smooks transformation support in jboss esb (http://docs.codehaus.org/display/MILYN/Smooks+In+JBoss+ESB, http://docs.codehaus.org/display/MILYN/Smooks) VERY, VERY NICE, but look above- seems to be slow...
- jboss esb has a notification framework (email, jms, ftp)
- support ldap integration
- dead letter support (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossESBDeadLetterService) with message store (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossESBMessageStore) - good contentbased-router support via drools (http://anonsvn.labs.jboss.com/labs/jbossesb/trunk/product/docs/services/ContentBasedRouting.pdf) - integration of jbpm (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossESBjBPM)- nice thing - dynamic soap-client in the esb (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=SOAPClient) - but I don“t understand this really :-)
- support of acl for securing messages
- hot deployment of esb services (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossESBHotDeployment)! - dynamic router, but without a control channel (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossESBDynamicRouter) - basic Eventmanager (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=EventManagerAction) - jca support (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=UsingJCAWithJBossESB) - good ftp provider configuration (with few parameter for finished and working and error messages) - message redelivery (!!!), clustering and loadbalancing (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossESBStatelessServiceClustering) - message actions guide (http://labs.jboss.com/jbossesb/docs/4.2.1GA/manuals/html/MessageActionGuide.html), look at notification support
a good overview delivers the webinar:
https://jboss.webex.com/cmp0304l/webcomponents/docshow/docshow.do?siteurl=jboss&setupStatus=0&rnd=0.848281116934858
- they have a plenty of working examples- look at http://anonsvn.labs.jboss.com/labs/jbossesb/trunk/product/samples/quickstarts/

Maybe this would help to find out some new requirements to improve Synapse. It seems that JBoss has a very good implementation of an esb- they support some ws-specs like ws-security and it seems to may that they have a robust product.

Also, I like the jax-ws model more and more.

Any comments on that?

Thanks,
Jens
