Hi, Velocity was created and released under Apache license terms as a clean room re-implementation of WebMacro which used the file extension "*.wm". Velocity used a file extension of "*.vm", standing for "Velocity Macro". Other extensions are also being used for Velocity templates: ".vtl" and ".vsl" (Velocity Stylesheet).
