On SFW we were using the following conventions to renumber the man pages for
FOSS project developed mainly for Linux which was bundled with Solaris:
https://dorfl.cz.oracle.com/twiki/bin/view/Dorfl/OSrcManPgs
...after some urgentions only the mangler.man.stability was added. It can
solve only one half of the problem as it was documented on our TWiKi.
So the section in openldap.p5m should mangled approprietly:
usr/share/man/man4oldap instead of usr/share/man/man5oldap
usr/share/man/man1moldap instead of usr/share/man/man8oldap
If this is the case, then the problem extends way beyond the openldap
man pages.
Yes, despite attempts to catch them in ARC & code reviews, many slipped
through. If you read the "Man Page Sections" list in man(1) or
you'll see there is no section 8 on Solaris. I have wondered if
it's time to give up and just finally move from the SVR4 sections
to the Linux/BSD sections, but that seems more of a minor release
project than an update.
Of course, if you read Intro(1), you'll also learn, as I just did,
that we have little used Sections 1C & 1S which we don't use for most
of our deliveries, so even the classic core "SunOS man pages" aren't
fully self consistent. (If 1C was really all remote connection
commands, it would have ping, rsh, ssh, telnet, etc.)
